White Peppermint Bark Recipe (with a Pretzel Twist)

Nothing feels more festive then baking goods and making treats. That’s why this holiday season has to be filled with yummy seasonal treats that the whole family with love. Anything with chocolate is a plus, and to match the décor around the house why not add some fresh, sweet peppermint? That’s what this recipe is all about. Bringing together the best flavors of the holidays with a tradition that will bring the family together. This White Peppermint Bark recipe is the best thing to make for your next holiday gathering.

Chocolate

First you have to get your chocolate. We recommend a yummy semi-sweet dark chocolate and some white chocolate too. Your favorite brands will work and you can also buy chocolate melts. If you want to add some festive colors to your treat then you can get some food coloring and add it to the chocolate as you melt.

There are two ways you can melt your chocolate. One way is to chop it up and put it in a bowl and then microwave the bowl in 10-second intervals. Stirring in between bursts. Another method is the double boiler method. Just place a bowl on top of a pot of boiling water. Make sure the water doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl, we just want the steam. Then place your chocolate in the bowl and stir as it melts.

Peppermint

While your chocolate melts you can start working on your peppermint. This step is simple. Put your choice of peppermint candy in a plastic ziplock bag and crush it into small pieces with a rolling pin, or underside of a pan, or a mallet. You don’t want the pieces to be too small. You want crunchy, sweet chunks of peppermint in your bark.

Toppings

Next come the other toppings, this part is fun and you can get the whole family involved. Find your favorite toppings and mix them up in a bowl. You can use anything you can think of, we recommend Pretzel pretzels for some salty goodness. You can also add puffed rice, marshmallows, candies, and so much more. Whatever you decide, it’ll turn out delicious.

Combine

Now for this step you will need a baking sheet and parchment paper. Grease the parchment paper with butter or coconut oil and it’s ready. Grab your melted chocolate and pour it over the baking tray. Then add your toppings. As much or as little. We recommend not overdoing it with the toppings. Next, add your crushed peppermints. This is a great time to get the kids involved and let them place their toppings. After you’re done adding toppings just pop it in the fridge for an hour and take it out and break it into pieces by hand.
